Towards Critical and Eloquent Achievers: E-learning Empowerment through WeCWI Integrated Solutions is WeCWI's latest innovation project in 2015 led by Dr Mah Boon Yih with his team members including Dr Irfan Naufal Umar, Dr Rushita Ismail, Rasaya A/L Marimuthu, and Liaw Shun Chone, It has been selected as one of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)'s representatives to be showcased in The International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning 2015 (PECIPTA 2015) on the 4th – 6th December 2015 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This project falls under the cluster of Education and Human Development in Open Category.
The abstract of the project is shown as follows:
To produce critical and eloquent learners has always been a daunting task for educators particularly in higher education owing to the lack of time, space, and effective approach. Web-based Cognitive Writing Instruction or WeCWI is created as a hybrid e-framework to develop and design a web-based instruction, which provides two integrated solutions in terms of instructional design and language development. Web-based Cognitive Instructor or WeCI is the first solution of WeCWI offered to instructors who intend to leverage the contemporary web tools disseminating knowledge to in-and-out class learners. WeCI is trained holistically focussing on the instructional, technological, pedagogical, and theoretical explorations through four sequential stages: awareness, development, integration, and design. On the other hand, Web-based Cognitive Language Instructor or WeCLI is WeCWI's second solution for language instructors through linguistic and non-linguistic explorations. In order to sharpen the communication skills particularly in writing, WeCLI is trained holistically focussing on the learners’ literacy, language, cognitive, and psychological developments. Both WeCI and WeCLI are guided through WeCWI to develop their preferred web-based instructional tools with engaging interface design, which draw learners’ attention to reading, discussion, and writing to generate the critical and eloquent achievers.
