A WeCWI project entitled WeCWI: Rising to the Instructional, Technological, Pedagogical, and Theoretical Discoveries of Becoming a Web-Based Instructor was awarded a silver award in iidex 2015 on 29 April 2015 at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor (DATC), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Selangor.
Dr. Mah Boon Yih was the head of this project together with his fellow team members, including Liaw Shun Chone, Lim Teck Heng, Rosmaliza Mohemed, and Suzana Ab. Rahim. The iidex 2015 silver award is WeCWI's 2nd medal as the international recognition of an innovative product in arts and applied arts. Invention, Innovation & Design Exposition 2015 (iidex 2015) is an annual international exhibition and competition organised by Research Innovation Business Unit (RIBU), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The organisation of iidex2015 corresponds with the National Higher Education Strategic Plan's third thrust is Enhancing Research and Innovation.
With the theme Bridging Innovation to Maximise Commercialisation, iidex2015 is set to boost innovation culture among students and researchers, encourage collaboration between academia and industries as well as monetise innovation and invention. There are five highlighted objectives: Nurture creativity and innovative thinking amongst researchers; display invention/innovation/design produced by researchers; protect the intellectual property (IP) rights of the idea or invention; enhance commercialisation prospects and market value participants invention/ innovation/ products; as well as create an avenue to establish business networking partnership and opportunities to collaborate with industries.
